THE MAHDI AND HIS HELPERS

Our Prophet (saas) has told us that the Mahdi will serve for the benefit of Islam and Muslims and will carry out many important activities. According to the information provided in the hadiths, the Mahdi, who resembles our Prophet (saas) in terms of his moral values, will engage in sincere efforts for people’s salvation in this world and in the Hereafter, and by means of him there will be comfort, peace and abundance in the world. It is also reported that he will have a small number of helpers in this honorable and superior duty. The information provided regarding the Mahdi’s helpers in the hadiths and in the expressions of Islamic scholars are the signs that will enable him to be recognized.

The 1400s (Hijri) in which we are living is a time when the portents of the end times reported in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) and in the works of Islamic scholars are becoming true one by one. We are informed that great and historic events will take place in this period. Allah has chosen blessed people to conduce to those developments. The superior moral values and honorable struggle of the Mahdi, is described detailed in the hadiths. Another thing we are informed about is the Mahdi’s helpers and their various features. One of the most striking features is their numbers. According to the hadiths, the numbers of his helpers, who will be active on a global scale, will remain the same and won’t change during their transmission. This is a miraculous state of affairs created by Allah in His wisdom. The numbers of the Mahdi’s helpers are going to be the cause of his recognition.

When the Mahdi Appears His Helpers Will Be Few

As revealed by our Prophet (saas) in the hadiths, the number of the people who support him when he first appears will be very few as a requirement of the law of Allah revealed in the Qur’an. This has been same in all the communities of believers who lived throughout the history. The Qur’an also contains information about the fewness of sincere believers around the prophets.

For example, only few young people constituting the community in which the Prophet Musa (as) lived, believed in him:

“No one believed in Musa except for a few of his people out of fear that Pharaoh, and the elders, would persecute them. Pharaoh was high and mighty in the land. He was one of the profligate.” (Surah Yunus: 83)

The same thing is valid for the helpers in the period when Prophet ‘Isa (as) first appeared. It is understood that noone has believed in him except few Disciples The Disciples believed in Prophet (as) is revealed as follows in the Qur’an:

“You who believe! Be helpers of Allah as ‘Isa son of Maryam said to the Disciples, ‘Who will be my helpers to Allah?’ The Disciples said, ‘We will be the helpers of Allah.’ One faction of the tribe of Israel believed and the other disbelieved. So We supported those who believed against their enemy and they became victorious.” (Surah As-Saf: 14)

The Qur’an also tells us that the Companions of the Cave were very few in number:

“They will say, ‘There were three of them, their dog being the fourth.’ They will say, ‘There were five of them, their dog being the sixth,’ guessing at the Unseen. And they will say, ‘There were seven of them, their dog being the eighth.’ Say: ‘My Lord knows best their number. Those who know about them are very few.’ So do not enter into any argument concerning them, except in relation to what is clearly known. And do not seek the opinion of any of them regarding them.” (Surat Al-Kahf: 22)

In another verse we are told that the number of people following Prophet Nuh (as) was also few:

“…But those who believed with him were only few.” (Surah Hud: 40)

It is also reported in the Qur’an that very few people believed in Prophet Lut (as). When the People of Lut (as) were struck by a great disaster, apart from his non-believing wife, Allah rescued only the believer members of Prophet Lut’s (as) family:

“…We are going to rescue him and his family–except for his wife. She will be one of those who stay behind. When Our Messengers came to Lut, he was distressed on their account, feeling incapable of protecting them. They said, ‘Do not fear and do not grieve. We are going to rescue you and your family–except for your wife; she will be one of those who stay behind.” (Surat Al-‘Ankabut: 32-33)

The Number of the Mahdi’s Helpers Will be Around 300

A specific number is cited in the hadiths for the number of people who will follow the Mahdi:

These 313 are devout believers by night and heroes by day. (Al-Uqayli, An-Najmu's-saqib fi Bayan Anna'l Mahdi min Awladi Ali b. Abu Talib Ale't-Tamam ve'l Qamal)

They consist of a group, including women, of 314 people. They will overcome all tyrants. Their hearts are like iron, and they are lions by day and devout believers by night. Neither those before nor after them can match them in self-sacrifice. (Al-Uqayli, An-Najmu's-saqib fi Bayan Anna'l Mahdi min Awladi Ali b. Abu Talib Ale't-Tamam ve'l Qamal)

Three hundred and fourteen people, among them women, will appear before the Mahdi. (Al-Uqayli, An-Najmu's-saqib fi Bayan Anna'l Mahdi min Awladi Ali b. Abu Talib Ale't-Tamam ve'l Qamal)

It is striking that the number of people believing in this valuable person who serves for the religion and calls people to believe in Allah, are few. There is no doubt that this is a miraculous state of affairs. The Mahdi, who will prevail the moral values of the Qur’an, will have only 313-314 helpers, when even the smallest religious communities today have thousands of members, is one of the main distinguishing features of the Mahdi and his community.

Bediüzzaman Said Nursi also recalled in his writings that although their numbers will be few every member of the community of the Mahdi would be spiritually very powerful:

It was related from Muhammed b. Hanefi that: Their numbers will be those of the people of Badr (313). In the same way that those before them cannot match them, neither can those who come after. Their number is as many as those who crossed the river with Talut. (Fera Idu Fevaidi'l Fiqr Fi'l Imam al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar)

The force and spiritual army this duty depends on is some students in full possession of titles of loyalty and solidarity. No matter how few they may be, they are as powerful and valuable as a literal army. (Emirdag Addendum, p. 259)

Angels Will Also Assist the Mahdi

Allah will support him with three thousand angels. (Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al- Muntadhar)

Jibril will be before them, and Mikail behind.

... .( Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al- Muntadhar)

It is reported in the hadith that Jibril and Mikail will be among the Mahdi’s helpers. According to this information, by Allah’s will, angels are also going to help the Mahdi.

The angels’ help to true believers is reported in various verses of the Qur’an. Our Lord also supported our Prophet (saas) and his companions with angels. Some verses on the subject are as follows:

“And when your Lord revealed to the angels, ‘I am with you so make those who believe firm…” (Surat Al-Anfal: 12)

“And when you said to the believers, ‘Is it not enough for you that your Lord reinforced you with three thousand angels, sent down?’” (Surah Al ‘Imran: 124)

Every Believer Living in the End Times Is Very Valuable

Another noteworthy subject in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) is that every believer in the end times will be very valuable. In the end times, when atheism is widespread all over the world and when moral degeneration is proceeding at a great pace, believers, and especially the Mahdi, will encounter great difficulties and social pressure. This is reported in one of the hadiths as follows:

Such a time will come that he who is patient before the religion will be like one holding a glowing ember. (Fera Idu Fevaidi'l Fiqr Fi'l Imam al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar)

To serve with this worthy person who is patient in the face of such pressure, people need to compete with one another to be his helpmates in great excitement and enthusiasm. However, during the end times, truth and falsehood will change place in practice. The people who have left the moral values of the Qur’an and the moral degeneration’s enormous dimension may prevent people from following such an honorable believer and joining his community.

The Mahdi’s Helpers in Various Islamic Sources

They are young

The standard-bearer of the Mahdi will be a young person, fair colored, with light beard.” (Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al- Muntadhar, p. 51)

His (the Mahdi’s) standard-bearer will be a young person belonging to the line of Temimi from the East. ((Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al- Muntadhar, p. 26)

They are non-Arabs

The Mahdi’s helpers will not be Arabs, but will be from other nations.” (Portents of Doomsday, p.187)

They will preserve his call, assist him, and reunite him to the victory. They will assume all heavy burdens belonging to the nation. They will support the Mahdi beyond the duty entrusted to him by Allah.” (M. Arabi) (Hayrettin Gumusel, The Awaited Mahdi, p. 37, Kopru Publishing)

They will have a protector who is not one of their kind. This has never opposed Allah. He will be one of the purest and most honest ministers.” (M. Arabi) (Hayrettin Gumusel, The Awaited Mahdi, p. 37, Kopru Publishing)

It is related from Muawiya b. Qurra that:

A group from his community will be helped until the Resurrection day. (Ramuz al-Ahadith, 472)

They have superior moral values

It is certain they are banners of the true path. (Ramuz al-Ahadith, 1/135)

They are people of Islam who fear no condemnation from any critics nor any malicious tales on the path of Allah. (Sunan Ibn Majah,10-259)

It is related from the blessed Ali that:

“…they are people who truly know Allah, and they will be the Mahdi’s helpers in the end times.” (Abu Naim Al Qufi)

By Allah’s will they are not going to be defeated

One of the distinct qualities of these ministers is that they will never be defeated.” (M. Arabi) (Hayrettin Gumusel, The Awaited Mahdi, p. 37, Kopru Publishing)

According to Nuaym, related from Abu Jaffar:

Allah will grant success to the army of the Mahdi and his helpers...” (Fera Idu Fevaidi'l Fiqr Fi'l Imam al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar)

They are the most trustworthy among people

The Mahdi will remain hidden until the time comes, he will appear at the promised time. Those whom he trusts, his viziers are the most trustworthy. (M. Arabi) (Hayrettin Gumusel, The Awaited Mahdi, p. 37, Kopru Publishing)

His (the Mahdi’s) commanders are the most auspicious of people.” (Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al- Muntadhar, p. 49)

They feel no sorrow for those who leave, nor joy for those who join them

It is related from Muawiya b. Qurra that:

Neither will the desertion of those who abandon them will do them no harm. (Ramuz al-Ahadith, 472)

It is related from Muhammad bin Hanafi that:

…As the clouds gather around the skies, so Allah will gather a community around him. He reconciles their hearts. They do not grieve for the martyred nor rejoice for who join them. Their number will be as many as the People of Badr (313). In the same way that those before them can not equal them, neither can those who come after and their number is as many as those who crossed the river with Talut (Book of sayings on the portents of the Mahdi of the End Times-57)

Allah has concealed them

Allah has appointed a group to them as viziers. Allah has concealed these individuals. (Hayrettin Gumusel, The Awaited Mahdi, M. Arabi p. 36, Kopru Publishing)

Allah creates a community for the Mahdi. They are concealed by Allah. (Prophecies of the Mahdi. p. 129)

They will be true to their word

They will act in the vanguard like leaders… In the same way that leading believers kept their word to Allah, so they will confirm their words. (M. Arabi) (Hayrettin Gumusel, The Awaited Mahdi, p. 37, Kopru Publishing)

In his commentary, Ibn Marduya relates a hadith from Ibn Abbas: He stated that:

The Companions of the Cave will be the Mahdi’s helpmates.” (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir al-Zaman)

In his commentary on the Qur’an, Imam Abu Ishaq Salam states that:

When the Mahdi appears he will go to the Companions of the Cave and greet them, and Allah will resurrect them and they will take their places at the Mahdi’s side. Afterwards, they will return to the place where they lie and not rise again until the day of Resurrection. (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir al-Zaman)

Imam Suyuti states:

The slumber of the Ashab al-Kahf is a grant them by Allah. Because they will be the Mahdi’s helpers and will have the honor of being included in the community of Muhammed (saas). (Hadiths from the commentary by Jalaladdin Suyuti, Portents of the Mahdi of the End Times, p. 59)

The Mahdi’s Helpers in Various Islamic Sources

As revealed by our Prophet (saas) 1400 years ago, the Mahdi, one of the chosen servants of Allah, by the will of Allah, will prevail the moral values of the Qur’an to all over the world. He will fulfill that duty as written in his destiny, even if he has to do it alone. It is a mercy and blessing from Almighty Allah to be supported by helpers during the period of his transmission. Our Lord’s support for His emissaries is revealed in the Qur’an as follows:

“If you do not help him, Allah did help him...” (Surah At-Tawba: 40)

The Ashab al-Kahf Will Join the Mahdi’s Helpers

According to the blessed Huzayfa:

The Prophet (saas) stated: “My community will not be raised before the Mahdi appears. Allah will support him with three thousand angels… The Ashab al-Kahf will be with him and be his helpers.”

They Will Pray by Night and Work by Day

Abu Nuaym related from Abu Jaffar:

“Upon this call, 313 people, as many as the People of Badr, who were not previously allied together will immediately appear, and worship by night and act as lions by day (Fera Idu Fevaidi'l Fiqr Fi'l Imam al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar)

CONCLUSION

The Mahdi will be a holy individual, whose moral values, physical features, activities, services and effect on the world were described by our Prophet (saas) 1400 years ago, and which are written in his own destiny. Those features cannot be imitated, nor acquired by effort, so, by the will of Allah, the Mahdi’s work cannot be prevented or rejected by any kind of pretext. By Allah’s will The Mahdi will serve, together with Prophet ‘Isa who will return back to Earth for the second time in the end times to prevail the moral values of the Qur’an to all over the world as reported by our Prophet (saas). This is a destiny determined by Allah. The domination of the moral values of Islam is described in the Qur’an as follows:

It is He Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth to exalt it over every other religion, though the idolaters hate it. (Surat As-Saff:

THE LIFE OF JESUS ACCORDING TO THE QUR'AN

According to the historical records of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, Jesus lived approximately 2,000 years ago. He was a chosen messenger of God and is held in honor both in the world and the Hereafter. The Gospel of Mathew states that he was born either during the reign of Herod l or in a period of the regime change (4 BCE). According to the Gospel of Luke, he was born during the reign of Emperor Augustus (27 BCE-14 CE) when a census was being conducted in Judea (6 CE). Such information cannot be verified. However, experts analyzing various sources believe that Jesus was born around 7-6 BCE.

The true religion brought by Jesus, God's chosen Messenger who was rewarded with Paradise and special gifts, exists today. However, it does so in name only, for it has been tampered with and falsified. Likewise, the revelation given to Jesus by God exists only in name and certainly not in its original, for the Christian scriptures have been tampered with and altered. As we cannot acquire any true knowledge about Jesus from this source, we turn to the only source that can provide true information: the Qur'an, which God promised to protect until the Last Day. The Qur'an reveals much about Jesus' birth, life, examples of his encounters with other people, the situation of those living around him, and many other subjects. It also provides many examples of his efforts to invite the Jewish people to faith. The Qur'an relates the following words of Jesus:

"I come confirming the Torah I find already there, and to make lawful for you some of what was previously forbidden to you. I have brought you a Sign from your Lord. So fear God and obey me. God is my Lord and your Lord so worship Him. That is a straight path." (Qur'an, 3:50-51)

Only a few Jews answered his call and became his followers. The Qur'an reveals the existence of these devout believers as follows:

When Jesus sensed unbelief on their part, he asked: "Who will be my helpers for [the cause of] God?" The disciples said: "We are God's helpers. We believe in God. Bear witness that we are Muslims. Our Lord, we believe in what You have sent down and have followed the Messenger, so write us down among the witnesses." (Qur'an, 3:52-53)

According to the New Testament, Jesus traveled to all corners of Palestine with his 12 disciples to call people to faith. On this journey, God allowed him to perform many miracles. He healed the sick and disabled, cured people suffering from leprosy, brought sight to those who had been blind from birth, and raised the dead. The Qur'an reveals these miracles in the verses below:

"I have brought you a Sign from your Lord. I will create the shape of a bird out of clay for you and then breathe into it, and it will be a bird by God's permission. I will heal the blind and the leper and bring the dead to life, by God's permission. I will tell you what you eat and what you store up in your homes. There is a Sign for you in that if you believe." (Qur'an, 3:49)

Remember when God said: "Jesus, son of Mary, remember My blessing to you and to your mother when I reinforced you with the Purest Spirit so that you could speak to people in the cradle and when you were fully grown; and when I taught you the Book and Wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you created a bird-shape out of clay by My permission, and then breathed into it and it became a bird by My permission; and healed the blind and the leper by My permission; when you brought forth the dead by My permission; and when I held back the Children of Israel from you, when you brought them the Clear Signs and those who did not believe said: 'This is nothing but downright magic.'" (Qur'an, 5:110)

Jesus performed great miracles, and many people were impressed by them. However, he always stated that these miracles happened only by the will of God and, according to the Bible, he always told the people he healed: "Your faith has saved you." In response, the people praised the Lord when they saw his miracles:

Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and laid them at his feet. And he healed them. The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel. (Matthew 15:29-31)

Despite the increasing obstacles and, in particular among the people who suffered from oppression and cruelty, the number of believers began to rise. At the time, Jesus and his disciples had wandered through all of the towns and cities in the land. Meanwhile, the priests and scribes (teachers of the law) began to scheme and plot against Jesus, who had been telling them of the wrongs inherent in the traditions that they had promoted for years, reminding them of the deviations in the order they had established and calling them to believe only in God and to live only for him. (Luke 22:1-2, John 11:47-53)

Like all other Prophets, Jesus called his people to believe in God, to submit wholeheartedly to Him, to live for His good pleasure, to refrain from sin and evil, and to do good. He reminded them of life's impermanence and of death's proximity, and told them that they would have to answer for all of their deeds in the Hereafter. He called them to worship God alone and to fear and mind only Him. The Bible also contains much advice and educational material (mashal) in this respect. According to the New Testament, Jesus advised those who were "short on faith," brought them the good news of God's imminent dominion, and asked them to seek God's forgiveness. This dominion is the rule which the Jews expected to be established when the Messiah arrived, a rule that would bring them renewed faith and deliverance.

Jesus remained true to the Mosaic law (the commandments of the Torah) and reprimanded the Jews for straying from them or their hypocritical practice. According to the New Testament, he told them: "If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me" (John 5:46). Jesus called people to return to the Torah. The Gospel of Matthew records his order to abide by the Mosaic law ("the holy law"):

I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill. (Matthew 5:17)

Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so shall be called least in the kingdom of Heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew 5:19)

The Qur'an says the following about Jesus:

[Jesus said,] "I come confirming the Torah I find already there, and to make lawful for you some of what was previously forbidden to you. I have brought you a Sign from your Lord. So fear God and obey me

THE GOOD LIFE IN THE AGE OF THE MAHDI: THE GOLDEN AGE

The Golden Age represents glad tidings imparted by our Prophet (saas) of Paradise on Earth, a blessing from Allah (God) on believers. This period which, with its abundance, fertility, the comforts of all kinds it will bestow on humanity and its climate full of peace, is one that all Muslims will wish to attain is a most superior reward for all the faithful in the life of this world.

The hadiths of our Prophet (saas) contain very detailed information and signs regarding the End Times that will take place close to Doomsday. According to the information imparted by our Prophet (saas), a succession of significant events will take place in this period. In the first stage of the End Times terrible corruption and chaos will prevail on Earth, but in the second phase peace and security will prevail as people live by true religious moral values.

In the first phase of the End Times, because of various philosophical systems that inculcate atheism by refusing to accept the existence of Allah, there will be terrible degeneration among people. People will turn away from the purpose behind their creation, as a result of which there will be great spiritual emptiness and moral degeneracy. Terrible disasters, wars and famine will take place, and everyone will ask How can we be saved? in order for these troubles to come to an end.

The majority of these developments, revealed as portents of the End Times in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) are taking place in the present day just as described. The increasing war and conflict, terror, violence, anarchy and chaos, slaughter and torture in recent times are again an indication that the first stage of the End Times is now taking place.

According to the information in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas), Allah will rescue people from the chaos of the End Times after this period of darkness and bestow a great salvation upon them. Allah will make the Mahdi, in other words a servant with superior moral values and who bears the title of he who leads to the truth, in order to lead people who have turned their backs on proper moral values and societies that have suffered degeneration to the true path. In the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) and expositions by Islamic scholars, the Mahdi is reported as assuming three great responsibilities in this regard. First and foremost, the Mahdi will ensure the intellectual defeat of those philosophical systems that refuse to accept the existence of Almighty Allah and that support atheism. On the other hand, he will restore Islam to the essence revealed in the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our Prophet (saas). In this first stage of the End Times he will produce a solution to the chaos, social problems and societal difficulties facing humanity and will be a means whereby peace, happiness and virtue prevail over the entire world.

The Prophet ‘Isa (as), on the other hand, who will return to Earth during the same period in which the Mahdi lives, will address the Christian and Jewish worlds in particular, rid them of the superstitions into which they have fallen, and call on them to live by Qur’anic moral values. As Christians comply with the Prophet ‘Isa (as), Islam and Christianity will unite in a single faith and a period of great peace, security, happiness and well-being, known as The Golden Age will commence.

This holy age, awaited with great longing for hundreds of years, will last more than half a century according to the indications in the hadiths, and will resemble The Age of Happiness that took place during the time of our Prophet (saas). Life will be so delightful during the Golden Age that all people will wish to have lived in that time. They will fail to notice the passage of time, and will beseech Allah to extend their lives so that they can take greater enjoyment from these delights. This longing felt for the Golden Age is revealed as followed in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas): The younger ones wish they were grown-ups, while the adults wish they were younger. 1

Naim b. Hammad related from Ibn Abbas:

The Mahdi is a young one from our Ahl al-Bayt. Our elderly will not reach him whereas the young ones will hope for him. 2

His time will be so just that even the dead in the tombs will envy the alive.... 3

In the hadiths, our Prophet (saas) has revealed that people will join with the Mahdi, a most worthy individual who will be a means whereby they attain salvation in this world and in the Hereafter, and has indicated the good things that will take place in his time:

In the work Fiten, Ibn Abu Shayba and Naim b. Hammad, and Ibn Majah and Abu Naim related from Ibni Mas’ud. He said:

A man from my family appears to fill Earth with justice, just as it has been filled with corruption. So whoever reaches that [time] ought to come to them, even if crawling on the ice/snow, since among them is the caliph of Allah al-Mahdi. 4

People will experience all these delights revealed to His servants by Allah in the Qur’an during this period. In one verse of the Qur’an Allah reveals that He will bestow a pleasant life in this world on His faithful believers:

Anyone who acts rightly, male or female, being a believer, We will give them a good life and We will recompense them according to the best of what they did. (Surat an-Nahl, 97)

The World Will Overflow with Justice in the Golden Age

In the verse, “You who believe! Show integrity for the sake of Allah, bearing witness with justice. Do not let hatred for a people incite you into not being just. Be just. That is closer to heedfulness. Have fear of Allah. Allah is aware of what you do.” (Surat al-Ma’ida, 8), Allah tells believers to behave in a just manner. Pure justice, making no distinctions between people and defending right and truth alone is a requirement of the moral values of the Qur’an. However, as we are told in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas), people will turn their backs on these virtues in the End Times, and injustice will prevail across the globe. Indeed, the conflicts going on all over the world in our own day, the wars, the refugees who are killed, crippled, exiled from hearth and home, and forced to walk hundreds of kilometers in their search for shelter, the orphaned children living on the streets, and the elderly, needy and requiring care and abandoned by all, are a clear sign that justice is not being dispensed as it should.

With the appearance of the Mahdi, however, this state of affairs will come to an end, and a justice the like of which has never been seen before will prevail over the whole world. This climate of justice that will be experienced in the time of the Mahdi is described as follows in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas):

…The Mahdi of that ummah is from the descent of Hasan and Hussain. When anarchy reigns in the world, fitnah appears, roads are obstructed, people attack others, the elderly do not feel compassion for the young and fail to treat one another with dignity; Meanwhile Allah will eradicate enmity from them and conquer the fortresses of guidance and, just as how I did in the past, He will send someone who will uphold the religion in the End times and fill the Earth which was formerly full of cruelty. 5

Abu Dawud reported a Hadith from Abd Allah ibn Masud: The Prophet said, If there were only one day left for the world, that day would be lengthened until a man from among my descendants or from among the people of my household, was sent; . . . He will fill the earth with justice and fairness, just as it will have been filled with injustice and oppression. 6

His justice will permeate everywhere and he [the Mahdi] will treat people with our Prophet’s Sunnah. 7

The Wars, Terror, Conflict and Anarchy Prevailing over Much of the World Will Come to and End in the Time of the Mahdi

The 20th century, from which we recently emerged, has gone down in history as The Century of Wars. Wars and acts of terrorism have again begun in the 21st century in which we are now living, and are continuing across the world. No country is presently safe from terrorist attacks. In addition to terrorist bombings, acts of sabotage, aircraft hijackings, the seizing of hostages, internal conflicts and terror attacks aimed at innocent civilians, individual acts of violence encountered in day-to-day life are also continuing at a great pace. Terrorism is ruining lives and causing huge material losses from the USA to African countries such as Angola, Uganda and Nigeria; from European countries such as England, Spain, France to Asian countries such as Sri Lanka, Thailand and Japan and from the Middle East to Latin America. People can encounter terrorism at the most unexpected times, sitting at home, watching a film in the cinema, walking around a shopping centre, traveling on a bus or working in their offices. The way that terrorism comes right into people’s homes naturally gives rise to great unease, fear and concern. People hesitate to enter crowded places or to use public transport, and daily life becomes impossible. In short, terrorism brings with it terrible destruction and has the most negative impact on people’s lives. This climate that will arise during the End Times is described in these terms in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas):

…Finally afflictions, fitnah and many other happenings you would not like [to happen] will befall. Such successive fitnah occur that the latter render the former more insignificant and lighter. 8

However, again according to the tidings imparted by our Prophet (saas), in the wake of this dark period of fear and violence Allah will bestow salvation on all humanity by means of the Mahdi. All the strife, wars, slaughter, terror, acts of violence and anarchy in the world will come to an end, and be replaced by a period filled with light, peace and security. This is how it is revealed in the hadiths that the Mahdi will prevent corruption:

Days and nights will not end before someone from my Ahl al-Bayt, who will not find it difficult to prevent fitnah and who will not be dread by death comes... 9

A dusty, hazy dark fitnah will appear, and others will follow …until a personage from my Ahl al-Bayt, who is called the Mahdi appears. If you reach him, be subject to him and be one of those who are guided. 10

Practices Based on Oppression and Torture Will Come to an End

All the envoys dispatched throughout the course of history have brought peace and justice to the societies in which they lived, and the coming of the prophets has been a means whereby the oppression and cruelty to which communities of the faithful have been subjected have been lifted. This feature of the envoys is described thus in the Qur’an:

Every nation has a Messenger and when their Messenger comes everything is decided between them justly. They are not wronged. (Surah Yunus, 47)

The Mahdi will also possess this feature when he comes to Earth and, by the will of Allah, will also be a means whereby all the cruelty, torture and oppressive practices in the world come to an end. Our Prophet (saas) has imparted the glad tidings of this state of affairs that will come about in the Golden Age in these terms:

Earth will be filled with equity and justice, just as it was previously filled with oppression and tyranny. 11

Earth will be filled with justice instead of cruelty and torture. 12

In another hadith, we are told that the Mahdi will eradicate all practices based on slavery and that all slaves will attain their freedom:

... paying their costs, he will purchase all slaves, and liberate them.. 13

He Will Implement Social Justice in the Finest Manner

Social injustice is the result of moral degeneration such as selfishness and thinking only of one’s own interests and the disappearance of feelings such as mutual aid and solidarity. While some people struggle against poverty, others use the privileges bestowed on them by their wealth. This means that the wealthy enjoy greater justice, regard keeping the poor down as their right and seek to direct the mechanisms of the justice system in their own direction. The moral values displayed by such people are revealed as follows in the Qur’an:

No indeed! You do not honor orphans, nor do you urge the feeding of the poor; you devour inheritance with voracious appetites and you have an insatiable love of wealth. (Surat al-Fajr, 17-20)

In Qur’anic moral values, however, Allah commands people to exercise justice without differentiating between rich and poor, as in the verse: …Be upholders of justice, bearing witness for Allah alone, even against yourselves or your parents and relatives. Whether they are rich or poor, Allah is well able to look after them. Do not follow your own desires and deviate from the truth…(Surat an-Nisa’, 135)

In addition, features such as language, race and ethnic origins are of great importance in some societies and can affect the decisions of those responsible for implementing justice. However, one purpose behind the existence of different races and nations is cultural wealth, not war and conflict. This variety is one of the beauties in Allah’s creation. According to Qur’anic moral values, people can only be superior to one another in the sight of Allah in terms of the depth of their faith and fear of Him. Therefore, the dominion of Qur’anic moral values over the world is the best and only way of eradicating social injustices linked to this deficient understanding. The Islamic virtues described in the Qur’an require justice, affection, compassion and help for the needy, making no distinction between rich and poor. True justice, according to the Qur’an, is that resulting from observing only the approval of Allah and fearing only Him. When such justice is the aim, neither personal interests, nor friendship, nor enmity, nor an individual’s world view, nor language, race or the color of one’s skin will have any influence over decisions, which will be made solely on the basis of what is right. By Allah’s leave, such justice will prevail over the entire world in the End Times, and the Earth will be a place of true justice, true peace and true security. This state of affairs which will apply in the Golden Age is revealed as follows in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas):

People will be quite auspicious, their life will be very comfortable.

In that time my ummah will attain such welfare that until then such was not attained.... 15

According to the indications in the hadiths, injustices such as only a very small section of society living in plenty while the needy are ignored will come to an end in the Golden Age. Nobody will go to be on a full stomach while his neighbor is hungry, and unilateral wealth will become a source of shame. Since egoism and selfishness will disappear, everyone will invite everyone else to dine and will share all the spiritual and material means at their disposal. Mutual compassion will rise to the fullest possible extent, and everyone will seek to make everyone else wealthy. The strong will not be in the right; rather, people in the right will be strong. In this period when Qur’anic moral values prevail there will be great equality among people from all sections of society, and there will be a climate of peace and security. As a consequence of this, people will strongly avoid fraud, wickedness and sinful actions.

There Will Be a Climate of Peace and Security among People

In addition to all the delights that will be experienced during the Golden Age, social life will be exceedingly peaceful. Allah will bestow hitherto unseen delightful lives on believers and those who turn to the faith. In the Qur’an, Allah imparts the glad tidings that He will bless those of His servants who abide by Qur’anic moral values:

Allah calls to the Abode of Peace and He guides whom He wills to a straight path. Those who do good will have the best and more! Neither dust nor debasement will darken their faces. They are the Companions of the Garden, remaining in it timelessly, for ever. (Surah Yunus, 25-26)

The promise of a peaceful abode made to those who do good will be fully experienced in the Golden Age. Living by Qur’anic moral values will mean that people avoid all forms of behavior leading to confusion, unease or troubles, as a requirement of the verse: “…Eat and drink of Allah's provision and do not go about the earth corrupting it.” (Surat al-Baqara, 60). Societies will behave peacefully, moderately and tolerantly, seek rational solutions to problems, and be conciliatory rather than accentuating events, in such a way as to always comply with Qur’anic moral values.

All Enmity Will Come to an End

As a result of Qur’anic moral values prevailing over all the world, emotions such as hatred, rancor and enmity among people will come to an end, and peace and security will reign. Our Prophet (saas) tells us of this important feature of the Golden Age in hadiths:

Like the cup fills with water, so will Earth fill with peace. There will be no enmity left between any people. All hostility, fighting, and envy will disappear. 16

After the Earth is filled with cruelty and enmity, someone from my Ahl al-Bayt absolutely appears. And just like how it was formerly filled with cruelty and enmity, he fills the Earth with justice. 17

In the Golden Age there will be great fraternity among peoples who were previously hostile to one another, and all problems will be resolved in a spirit of love and virtue.

The Whole World Will Be Safe and Secure

According to the indications in the hadiths, life in the Golden Age will be filled with peace and well-being. As a result of the complete eradication of anarchy, terror, chaos, enmity and violence, people will enjoy an environment resembling Paradise. There will be no social problems such as theft, fraud or cheating because a just system will have been established and people will have learned fear of Allah. Murder, assault, slander and insulting actions, as well as all behavior that might disrupt the peace and exploitation will disappear. Conflict, raised voices and argument, as well as the threat of attack from drug addicts or the unbalanced will come to an end, and people will be freed of all concerns and fears stemming from such actions. All parts of the world will turn into secure areas in which people can live in great comfort, peace and security. Everyone will be able to take his family wherever he pleases, at whatever time he pleases, and people will be able to send their children to school without worrying about them.

People will demonstrate their trust in and respect for the state by not placing any obstacles in the way of its institutions. Nobody will act out of anger, or behave improperly or cause any trouble. On the contrary, with their helpful and tolerant attitudes people who abide by Qur’anic moral values will behave in such a way as to facilitate the work of the representatives of the state.

The public will be encouraged to investigate and learn the truth, and to act accordingly, and there will naturally be no question of sudden rage and mass actions. Whatever their problems may be, people will live in the peace and security of knowing that these can be easily resolved in a climate of love, respect and harmony. Striking metaphors describing this secure environment are given in hadiths, such as “the wolf and the lamb will graze together” and “children will play with snakes and scorpions, but will come to no harm.” Some of the hadiths that describe this climate read as follows:

...Everywhere becomes a secure place.... 18

... Security will permeate all over Earth and even a few ladies will be able to fulfill their hajj without the company of men. 19

…that snakes will graze with camels, leopards with cows, and wolves with sheep. Children will play with snakes, and the snakes will not harm them. 20

Virtue Will Prevail in All Societies

One of the most important features of the Golden Age, in which everyone will enjoy enormous peace, security and comfort, is that it will be a time when Qur’anic moral values are abided by to the fullest extent. Since people will fear Allah and be aware that they will be held to account in the Hereafter for all their actions they will scrupulously avoid vices such as selfishness, hatred, anger, hostility and revenge, as well as corruption, making unfair gains, lying and hurting others, and bribery. These will be replaced by virtues such as honesty, helpfulness, altruism, considering the good, health, ease and security of others, respect, love, compassion, loyalty, faithfulness and brotherhood.

The existence of people who fear Allah, who are moderate, modest, look at everything in a positive way, give frequent thanks, possess a sound conscience, are affectionate, compassionate, just, courageous, reliable, strong, honorable, humble, understanding, tolerant, humane, loveable, have no hesitation about speaking the truth, are patient, slow to anger, who do not persist in their errors, who follow the truth rather than the majority, who keep their word, and are loyal, chaste and conciliatory will result in the emergence of highly virtuous societies.

As a result of this fear of and full compliance with Qur’anic virtues, nobody will be despairing or apathetic, but will become enthusiastic in all they do and useful both to society and to themselves.

They will better see and appreciate the beauty and blessings around them created for them by Allah, and will take greater pleasure from these. Love of children and affection and compassion for the elderly and needy will rise. People will treat their work colleagues with love and respect. They will protect and care for their employees’ families and share all their problems, and people from all sections of society will rush to be of assistance whenever they need anything.

Hypocrisy, banality and superficiality will entirely disappear, and people’s natures will be dominated by profundity, honesty and quality. When people live by Qur’anic moral values, all forms of vulgarity and banality that ill befit the human soul and the character of a believer will spontaneously vanish.

Again under the influence of Qur’anic moral values, people will attach great importance to cleanliness, and will keep both themselves and their surroundings as clean and attractive as possible. Everyone, in all sections of society, will be exceedingly clean, elegant and spruce.

This virtue that will arise in the time of the Mahdi during the Golden Age is described as follows in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas).

In Al-Awsad, Tabarani related via Amr ibn Ali from Ali ibn Abu Talib :

... Allah will end Islam with us just as how He commenced it with us. Just as how idolatry and enmity between them and us is eradicated and friendship and love in hearts are placed, it would be the same (by his coming.) 21

”...In his time the kind people become even more generous, even the bad people are treated with kindness.” 22

The Golden Age Will See a Climate Based on Freedom of Ideas

Islamic moral values recognize complete freedom of belief for all. This conception, which has applied from the revelation of Islam right up to the present day, represents the foundation of Islamic moral values.

According to the moral values of Islam, people are free to choose their own beliefs and nobody can impose a belief on anyone else. Muslims only have a responsibility to communicate the message to someone they wish to become a Muslim, and to explain the Qur’an, the true scripture of Allah, that Muhammad (saas) is His prophet, the existence of the Hereafter and the Day of Judgment, and the beauties of Islamic virtues. Yet this responsibility is restricted solely to describing the faith. Allah reveals this in the Qur’an:

There is no compulsion where the religion is concerned. Right guidance has become clearly distinct from error. Anyone who rejects false gods and believes in Allah has grasped the Firmest Handhold, which will never give way. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. (Surat al-Baqara, 256)

The person to whom Islam is described decides of his own free will whether or not to believe, without being subjected to any pressure or compulsion. As a result, political disputes will come to a complete end, and a climate of democracy in an environment of friendship and love will emerge. There will be complete freedom of belief, on condition that one does no harm to others, and everyone will be able to declare their ideas without giving rise to any confusion or conflict.

All Faiths Will Enjoy Peace and Tolerance

While Islam leaves people free to make their own choices when it comes to religious belief, it also commands them to respect other faiths. Even if someone holds beliefs that are described as falsehood in the Qur’an, people who abide by Qur’anic moral values can still live together in peace and harmony. They are free to perform their religious observances in the light of their own beliefs. Nobody can prevent anyone else from performing those observances. Nor can they oblige anyone else to worship in the way they want them to. That is a violation of Islamic moral values and a form of behavior that is displeasing to Allah. When we look at the history of Islam we see that in the time of our Prophet (saas), too, there was a model of society in which everyone worshipped freely and was able to carry out the requirements of their own beliefs. The Qur’an speaks of monasteries, churches and synagogues, the places of worship of the Peoples of the Book, as being under the protection of Allah:

… if Allah had not driven some people back by means of others, monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques, where Allah’s name is mentioned much, would have been pulled down and destroyed. Allah will certainly help those who help Him–Allah is All-Strong, Almighty. (Surat al-Hajj, 40)

Many examples of this virtue can be seen in the life of our Prophet (saas). He told Christians who came to visit him to worship in his own masjid, and left it at their disposal for that purpose.23 This tolerant understanding was maintained in the time of the caliphs who succeeded the Prophet (saas). When Damascus was captured, a church turned into a mosque was divided into two, with Christians worshipping in one half and Muslims in the other. 24

The hadiths reveal that, as in the Age of Happiness when all peoples lived together in peace and harmony, the same toleration will prevail in the time of the Mahdi during the Golden Age. Accordingly, there will be a conception of brotherhood, affection and compassion based on mutual tolerance between the Muslim and Christian worlds. All Christian and Jewish places of worship, synagogues, churches and foundations will be placed under protection, and those who wish to open churches, who make requests in the light of their religious beliefs or wish to fulfill their religious obligations will be allowed to do so. All Christians and Jews will be able to live in peace and security in lands they regard as sacred to them, all problems will be easily resolved in a spirit of love, respect and tolerance, and all peoples will continue to live together in harmony and friendship.

There Will Be Unmatched Plenty and Abundance in the Golden Age

The hadiths of our Prophet (saas) describe the matchless nature of the blessings to be enjoyed in the Golden Age in considerable detail. According to these accounts, the Golden Age will be a time of great plenty and abundance in goods and products. There will be hitherto unseen wealth, and the years of high costs of living, difficulties in making ends meet, hunger, poverty and scarcity will come to a complete end. Nobody will be left in need, anybody asking for anything will be given many times more than what they request, and nothing will be counted out or weighed. All means, material or otherwise, will be used for people’s comfort, happiness and peace of mind, and there will be not the slightest difficulty, poverty or hunger. Our Prophet (saas) imparts the tidings of this plenty and abundance in the time of the Mahdi thus in hadiths:

The Mahdi among my ummah will appear. Allah will send him to render people wealthy. Then will my ummah receive blessings, animals will be in abundance and the Earth’s plants will be ample.

The Mahdi distribute to people lots of goods evenly. 25

... On that day goods will be very abundant. 26

In the End Times there will be a khalifa [successor] who will distribute wealth without even counting it.. 27

At that time both the good and the bad in the ummah will benefit from blessings they had not seen before.... 28

... ... And wealth will be so abundant that no one will accept it.. 29

Great Advances Will Be Made in Agriculture

We are told in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) that more will be obtained from the soil than ever before and that there will be incomparable plenty and abundance in this sphere:

People will reap 700 measures of wheat for every one they sow ... People will throw down a few handfuls of seeds and reap 700 handfuls ... 30

... (The land) would bring forth its yield and would not hold back anything and the property at that time would be a stack... 31

… Then will my Ummah be blessed, the number of animals will increase and the land will bear its fruits… 32

Again according to the hadiths of our Prophet (saas), there will also be great abundance in terms of water resources during the Golden Age, and that as more irrigation becomes possible all lands will become much more fertile than has ever been seen before:

...Although much rain will fall, not a drop of them will go waste, without demanding not a single seed the soil will become fertile and abundant. 33

As. Hudhaifia related our Prophet (saas) said:

... In his time all water will become sweet, rivers will grow longer, the Earth will increase its yields, and give its treasures out. 34

...In his time, even the running rivers will add to their waters.... 35

... The heavens will give its rain, the earth will be abundant, my ummah will attain comfort in an unprecedented manner.. 36

Our Prophet (saas) may be indicating in these hadiths that there will be an increase in production in the time of the Mahdi as a result of a transition to modern agriculture, the development of new production technologies, work on seed improvement and the use of rain water in new dams and reservoirs. Technology is progressing at a rapid pace in our day, and enormous increases are becoming possible in terms of both product quality and quantity. These can now last longer and grow using less water. Thanks to newly developed technologies, a diversity of products can be obtained and all kinds of fruits and vegetables can be grown in all four seasons of the year.

These advances will continue still further in the Golden Age, and there will be an extraordinary rise in quality levels. A greater range of crops with better tastes and smells will be grown. In one verse of the Qur’an pointing to this subject we are told that:

The metaphor of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah is that of a grain which produces seven ears; in every ear there are a hundred grains. Allah gives such multiplied increase to whoever He wills. Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing. (Surat al-Baqara, 261)

According to the indications in the hadiths, great importance will be attached to irrigation in the Golden Age, large reservoirs and dams, wide canals and artificial rivers will be built, and nowhere will be left without water. Sea, rain and flood waters will be purified and used in agriculture, and arid regions will thus achieve enormous abundance and plenty. Deserts will turn green through the use of technologies that have only been implemented in a very narrow area in our day, and mankind will thus achieve a very large arable area. Again according to the information contained in the hadiths, as a result of all this progress in agriculture, there will also be huge improvements in livestock quality, and production of all kinds of animal products will also increase:

...The ummah will receive blessings, animals will eat plenty, and the earth will give its yields.... 37

Underground Wealth Will Be Brought to the Surface

Another development that will take place in the time of the Mahdi is the extraction of all underground riches and the use of these for the comfort and well-being of humanity. This feature of the Golden Age is reported in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas)

...The Mahdi will extract treasures... 38

The land will reveal the treasures within. 39

… The Earth will give out all the riches it conceals within it in the form of gold and silver columns.

It will give out all its riches in the form of gold and silver. 40

There Will Be Great Advances in Science and Technology

The hadiths of our Prophet (saas) also contain indications of advances in science and technology. Intense encouragement and education programs aimed towards science will be implemented among all societies during the Golden Age, technological progress will rise to a peak and people will be able to enjoy the maximum benefit from the blessings of technology. Great advances will be made in medicine, agriculture, communications, industrial technology and transportation. All this technological progress will bestow enormous comfort on people’s lives. Thanks to these advances, there will be great and rapid facilitation of them.

As a result of advances in transport technology, the highest level of passenger comfort and safety will be ensured, loss of time and the risk of accidents will be reduced to a minimum, and all precautionary measures essential for this will be taken. There will be significant progress in communications technology, too, and speed and ease in communicating and exchanging information all over the world will reach the very highest levels. (Allah knows the best.)

As all these technologies are obtained, great importance will also be attached to people’s health and comfort, and to the elimination of all problems that might have a negative impact on these, to which end precautionary measure against harmful side-effects of technologies will also be taken.

The most important feature of this change that will take place during the Golden Age is the way that the whole world will be able to benefit in a just manner from advances such as these. All opportunities will be made available to all the peoples of the world, and the same delights and equal opportunities will be made available to all.

There Will Be Extraordinary Progress in Medicine and Human Health

Every advance in technology in the End Times will lead to extraordinary advances in the sphere of medicine. All the scientific and technological progress in the Golden Age will, by Allah’s leave, accelerate medical research, lower margins of error, prevent a great many diseases, facilitate diagnoses, and increase treatment possibilities.

Great importance will be attached to human life and health, people will no longer despair because they lack access to doctors or drugs, or because they have been administered the wrong treatment, and everyone in need will be assisted on the spot. Great care will be taken over everyone’s health problems, with no distinction being made between rich and poor or young and old. All existing means will be tried for people’s health, and all possibilities will be made use of.

All material and spiritual requirements will be met. Hospitals, drugs and treatments will all be free of charge, and the needs of those requiring help and care will be met in the finest possible manner without their even feeling them.

Dietary policies will also be perfected in the light of advances in science and technology in order for everyone to be able to lead healthy lives. There will be studies and research aimed at eliminating all harmful elements in foodstuffs. Scientific methods of eliminating cholesterol or other harmful constituents from foods will be developed. Precautionary measures regarding all food and drink that might be damaging the body will be taken, and people will be able to enjoy high-quality and clean food. As a consequence of this, the number of deaths due to such causes as disease, heart attacks and high blood pressure will decline, and people’s life spans will be extended in a manner never seen before. (Allah knows the best.)

In addition to nutrition, all societies will also be made aware of the importance of sport for a healthy life, and many diseases will be prevented through people having a healthy mind and body. In addition to all this, many psychological illnesses will also disappear as people are more resigned to events they encounter and treat one another with love and toleration. (Allah knows the best.)

All these developments that will take place in the field of health and medicine in the Golden Age have been indicated in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas), and it is revealed that the life spans of people living at that time will be prolonged:

In his time…life spans will extend and entrusts will not go waste... 41

A Superior Conception of Art and Aesthetics Will Prevail across the Whole World

Another development indicated in the hadiths is that the abundance, wealth, beauty and progress in all spheres of life in the Golden Age will also apply to art. Great importance will be attached to art in the Golden Age. Everyone will receive intense encouragement in this area, and there will be an extraordinary rise in the trend towards the arts. The whole Islamic world will register enormous progress in the field of art. More beautiful works will be forthcoming in music, painting and the other arts, and the broad horizons and depth of thinking imparted by faith in Allah will lead the way in all branches of art. People will see nothing but beauty at this time and, like their moral values, their homes, gardens, interior décor, the music they listen to, forms of entertainment, pictures and conversation will become ever more attractive.

No place or building will be left ugly or ill-formed, and everywhere will be attractive and pleasing to the eye. There will be more spacious homes, swimming pools, vineyards and gardens, and those that already exist will be more attractive. Attractive fruit trees will be planted in the streets, and there will be small zoos just about everywhere. The number of nature parks will rise enormously, and greenery will abound where people live. Thousands of plants and flowers that people can enjoy without having to care for themselves will adorn cities and villages. The illumination and painting of such areas will be exceedingly artistic, and everything will be made very attractive, and a high quality pleasing to the soul will prevail all over the world.

Everywhere, roads, places of worship, places of entertainment, rest areas, workplaces, homes, people’s clothes, in short, everything, will be spotlessly clean. In addition, solutions will be brought in to prevent environmental pollution in settlement areas and to resolve everything giving rise to pollution.

At the same time, love of animals will also be encouraged and pleasant and aesthetic environments in which animals of all kinds can be admired and examined will be established. Animals such as lions, leopards, panthers and cheetahs will be trained. Their aggression will be eliminated using various methods and biological techniques, and it will be easy for people to bond with them and show their affection. Birds of all kinds, such as storks and pelicans, will be able to live in cities and villages. Thanks to the scientific eradication of the venom of animals such as scorpions and snakes, these will also be prevented from doing people harm, and even the snake will assume an attractive appearance. (Allah knows the best.)

As a result of the understanding imparted by Qur’anic moral values, enmity towards animals will disappear and all behavior harmful to them will be eliminated. Thus the danger of animal species becoming extinct will be overcome, and there will be a rise in their numbers.

Our Prophet (saas) draws our attention to this climate that will be experienced in the End Times in one of the hadiths:

…an individual will tell his sheep and animals to go and graze, and they will go; even though they will advance through the crops, they will not take even a single grain into their mouths, snakes and scorpions will not give trouble to anyone, predators will stay in front of doors, giving no harm to anyone,... 42

Habis Al Hadrami related: ...Snakes will get along with kids, and cows with lions. 43

Everyone Will Be Pleased with the Mahdi’s Rule in the Golden Age

In the hadiths our Prophet (saas) reminds us how auspicious the Golden Age that will take place under the leadership of the Mahdi will be. It is related that in this time “from the fish in oceans to the birds in the skies and human beings, all living beings in the heavens and earth will be pleased with the Mahdi . It is also reported:

Have the good news of the Mahdi,... Everything in the heavens and earth are pleased with him... 44

... In that time, the ones in the heavens and earth, all predators, birds, and even fish in the oceans will be pleased with his caliphate... 45

Abu Said Hudri related from our Prophet (saas):

The Mahdi’s followers take refuge (find peace and security beside him) in him, just as how honey bees take refuge in queen bee; he will fill the Earth with justice and honesty. 46

In the Qur’an Allah has told Muslims who comply with Qur’anic moral values of the beauties to be bestowed on them in the life of Paradise. In return for their moral virtues they will be given an eternal life of delightful lands with rivers flowing through them, springs that never stop flowing, villas, mansions, fine clothes, foods, drinks and jewels. Paradise is the eternal life that Muslims always long to attain:

‘Enter the Garden, you and your wives, delighting in your joy.’ Platters and cups of gold will be passed around among them and they will have there all that their hearts desire and their eyes find delight in. You will remain in it timelessly, for ever. That is the Garden you will inherit for what you did. There will be many fruits in it for you to eat. (Surat az-Zukhruf, 70-73)

The Golden Age is the preparation for Muslims of such a delightful life in this world. As we are told by our Prophet (saas), paradise on Earth is a blessing from Allah to the faithful. This period, which all Muslims will seek to attain with its abundance, plenty, and peaceful climate filled with comforts of all kinds, is a most sublime recompense for believers in the life of this world. There is no doubt that being told of this delightful time is a great honor for all Muslims.

HE GLAD TIDINGS OF THE COMING OF THE PROPHET JESUS (AS) - 2

11- THE PROPHET JESUS’S (AS) ACTIVITIES ON EARTH

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON CAY TV (February 18th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
The essential thing for us is the coming of the Prophet Jesus (as). His emergence into the open. For instance just when you were saying this I have looked up for a hadith and I just found it. This is a hadith on page 4 of the “Risalat Mashrab al Vardi fi Mazhabi’l Mahdi” by Ali Ibn Sultan Muhammad al Qaari. It says that the Prophet Jesus (as) will open up a chest and find a thousand books with seals in it. These are books with the seal of our Prophet (saas). He will find a thousand books. Not one, but one thousand. It says he will hearten Islam with these books. The hadith says so. This is a marvelous thing. This means that he will fully abide by the Sunna of our Prophet (saas) and the Qur’an, and will act in the light of those books. He will distribute these books. Because one person will not read one thousand books. He will obviously hand those books out and have people read them, and will work in that way. But in my view, Allah knows the truth, the Prophet Jesus (as) will make contact with the leaders of the world states and world governments and will bring them under his control. For example, he will include certain important figures from the world’s main armies, certain very important figures of pre eminent people, in his group. In other words, he may already have come and be in concealment. So he might be awaiting for the time of his appearance. Because he will never reveal himself, and he might be taking the most extraordinary care. Said Nursi says, “will be very few and small comparatively to the ‘scientific’, physical armies”

That means he will have scientific activities and activities related with armies. He will be active in certain armies. That of course has to be carried out very silently and by working under deep cover. Of course what we say is Allah knows the truth.

12- WITH THE COMING OF THE PROPHET JESUS (AS), THE WORLD WILL ENTER AN AGE OF PEACE, LOVE AND WEALTH

ADNAN OKTAR’S DENMARK TV INTERVIEW (ISTANBUL, October 23,2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
There will be an age of love and beauty. This love will climb to the highest points, insha’Allah, with the coming of the Prophet Jesus (as). We will embrace and talk to the Prophet Jesus (as). He will walk among and talk to the people, and they will be stunned by this great miracle. When the Prophet Jesus (as) first comes he will be unaware that he is the Prophet Jesus (as). His disciples around him will recognize him through the radiance of faith, with the eye of faith. That is how we will recognize him too. He will learn the Qur’an, and the Torah and the Bible. The Prophet Jesus (as) will then espouse the Qur’an. He will act in the light of the Qur’an, and will call the entire Christian world to the Qur’an and will work miracles for them. He will neutralize the antichrist. Everyone will realize that he is the Prophet Jesus (as) from the miracles he performs, and he will call the whole world to love, brotherhood, love and peace. There will be nothing but truth left in the world. The whole world will become a place of festivities. Everyone will be full of love for everyone else. Wealth and abundance will rise to incredible levels. There will be such an abundance of goods that there will be nobody to give it all to. The accounts say that someone will be given enormous quantities of goods, but will feel ashamed and wonder whether he is the greediest in the whole community. He will try to give it back, but they will not let him. They will say that they will not take back the goods they have given out. That is the kind of wealth there will be, insha’Allah. We are heading for an excellent age, we are heading for beauties.

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON TEMPO TV (March 3rd, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Insha’Allah, in the time of Hazrat Mahdi (as) and the Prophet Jesus (as), joy, fervor and love will reach the very highest levels. Young people will enjoy modern cities and their delights, the aesthetic and the beauties of gardens; in the streets for example they will easily be able to stretch up and pick fruit from trees. You cannot find a single fruit tree on the streets now. But why should there not be a grapevine growing next to every shop, loaded yellow grapes? My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Wouldn’t that be great? Hanging in great bunches. And apple trees and quince trees. What is wrong with that? They are concerned what if someone picks them up. Let children pick them, or poor people, and eat them. What is wrong with that? How great it is.

ADNAN OKTAR’S TEMPO TV INTERVIEW (March 24th, 2009

ADNAN OKTAR:
But people will also enjoy other information in the time of Hazrat Mahdi (as) and the Prophet Jesus (as). People will have access to extraordinary information, and it will reach them on an extraordinary scale. Utterly astonishing things will happen. People will see if they wait a little, insha’Allah.

ADNAN OKTAR’S AL-QUDS (JERUSALEM) NEWSPAPER INTERVIEW (November 23th, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Jerusalem will eventually belong to the Muslims, and I say that on the basis of the hadith of our Prophet (saas). With the appearance of the Mahdi and the coming of the Prophet Jesus (as) the whole area will be filled with Muslims. There will be Jews, our brothers, and Christians there, too, but the spiritual leadership will rest in the hands of Muslims insha’Allah. And they will live together as friends and brothers, insha’Allah.

ADNAN OKTAR’S AMERICAN PUBLIC TV INTERVIEW (December 19th, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
It is stated in the hadith that there will be great abundance of goods in that time and that people will enjoy great economic prosperity. It is stated that goods will be given to people but that they will be embarrassed and want to hand it back, but that those goods will not be accepted back from those people. That is the age of Hazrat Mahdi (as), in other words. The age of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as). We are heading towards it. Islam will spread and rule the world, insha’Allah. It will reach perfection with the return of the Prophet Jesus (as).

ADNAN OKTAR’S DENMARK TV INTERVIEW (ISTANBUL, October 23th, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
The Prophet Jesus (as) will return to an immaculate world. There will be no more Darwinism, fascism, communism nor any other heretical ideology. The Prophet Jesus (as) will return to an immaculate world and a single faith and a single system will be established in the world when he comes. That faith is Islam, Insha’Allah, Islam will prevail the whole world.

13- AMERICA WILL EMBRACE ISLAM WITH THE COMING OF THE PROPHET JESUS (AS)TO THE EARTH

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON TEMPO TV (January 20th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
...With the Prophet Jesus (as) coming to the Earth, America will embrace Islam and the beauty and luminosity of Islam will pervade everywhere in America, and America will become Muslim from top to bottom, insha’Allah. Therefore, if being divided is what they meant, America is already divided into states, but there will not be such a division in that sense, but there will be a unity of belief. Since they will all be Muslims, there will be no separatism or problem, insha’Allah.

14- WILL THE PROPHET JESUS (AS) MARRY WHEN HE COMES?

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON CAY TV (January 31st , 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Insha’Allah, we will marry the Prophet Jesus (as) off. The Prophet Jesus (as) will marry but Hazrat Mahdi (as) will not, there are accounts from our Prophet (saas) to that effect. Our Prophet says that all the imams will marry, and then asks if they had added that important part to the accounts, “all of them but Hazrat Mahdi (as)” he says in the accounts.

15- WILL THE PROPHET JESUS (AS) RECEIVE REVELATION WHEN HE COMES?

ADNAN OKTAR’S INTERVIEW ON CAY TV (March 4th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Of course Jesus (as) will receive revelation. Said Nursi makes that clear. He says he is a prophet who receives revelation and that he will receive revelation in that period. He is in any case known to have received revelation. Of course, he will do many things with revelation, but he will be personally responsible.

16- THE COLLECTIVE IDENTITY ERROR CONCERNING THE PROPHET JESUS (AS)

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON KON TV (February 8th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Said Nursi says in the Rays p.463 about The Prophet Jesus (pbuh), “He, who is in the heavens with his human body” “… It could only be a wondrous person with marvels, who is miraculous and who is commonly accepted - this is because he is also the prophet of the Muslims as well- that person is the Prophet Jesus(as).”

“A trusty informer, relying on the promise of the Almighty had presaged that the person of the Prophet Jesus (as) – so that means this is not a collective identity, does it not? He refers to the person of Jesus, in other words, to him personally - who is present with his human body in the world of the heavens – in other words, in human form, in material form - the person of Jesus (as) will come to lead the true religious movement, true religion.” Letters p.60. He says it is certain that he will come.

“It is a sign and an insinuation that the number of the spiritual community of strugglers who will recognize the Prophet Jesus (as) – He does not refer to Jesus (as) as a collective identity, they should be honest about this, look, he makes it perfectly clear- the spiritual community of strugglers who will recognize Jesus (as) – in other words the community of spiritual strugglers- through the light of faith,- through the light of their faith- will be very few and small when compared to the schools and military - ‘scientific’ and physical- forces of the antichrist..” The Rays, the Fifth Ray, Second Station, p. 111.

It is said in the accounts that the Prophet Jesus (as) will come – see, not a collective personality, but the Prophet Jesus (as) will come- will subordinate himself to the Hazrat Mahdi (as) in the prayer - he attaches himself, he abides his imamate- he follows him. This refers to the - alliance, this union, and to the sovereignty of the Reality of the Qur’an - to the following of the truth of the Qur’an, to abiding them and to their sovereignty “– in other words, he says that the Prophet Jesus (as) will abide the Qur’an. The Rays, p.587

“The Prophet Jesus (as) who is present with his human body in the world of the heavens – look, in bodily form in the world of the heavens, in human form- and who is alive) – is there any reference to a collective personality here? No.- and had he truly died and departed for the furthest corner of the hereafter - to clothe him in his body and send him to the world with his body, for such a momentous result is not far removed from the wisdom of Him the Lord. May be He promised it because His wisdom required it to be thus, and since He promised it, He will most certainly send him.” Letters, Fifteenth Letter, p.80.

”Yes, the heavenly appearance, the return, of the Prophet Jesus (as) as certain and definite-look how Said Nursi describes this event-and in the metaphorical sense, as with other certain facts, he indicates a miraculous aspect of this.” Kastamonu Addendum 80-82

There is no reference to a collective personality here, it is very clearly described that he will personally be returning.

“The Prophet Muhammad (saas) alluded to this great mystery when he said: “Prophet Jesus (as) will come, he will be of my community and will act in accordance with my Shari‘a
[the essence of Qur'anic moral values and the Sunnah of our Prophet (saas)].”

“When Jesus (as) comes, it is not necessary that everyone should know him to be the true Jesus. His elect and those close to him will recognize him through the light of belief. It will not be self-evident so that everyone will recognize him when he first arrives.”
– it will be understood subsequently. Letters, p.80.

“In fact, although when Jesus (as) comes he himself will know he is Jesus, not everyone will know. “notice how there is no reference to a collective personality It is known only through vigilance of the light of faith, not everyone will know. Rays, p.98.

17- THE PROPHET JESUS (AS) AND HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL PERFORM THE PRAYER TOGETHER

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON EKIN TV (March 9th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
You will hear a soulful call to prayer at Hagia Sophia, insha’Allah. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will take our Prophet’s (saas) jacket from Topkapi Palace and it will be placed upon him. He will strap on his sword, as a blessing, and will unfurl the Holy Banner, insha’Allah. He will then come to Hagia Sophia for the prayer. And at the moment the Prophet Jesus(as) will appear, insha’Allah.

The Prophet Jesus(as) will tell Hazrat Mahdi (as) “do not pass that, you will lead the prayer”. He will have to work hard with Mahdi at that. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will insist saying “ Please your highness, it is you, it is you who is worthy of this, insha’Allah. Please you lead”. But he will refuse. When Hazrat Mahdi (as) continues to resist like that, just the same, the Prophet Jesus (as) will push him from his back. He will draw him ahead by force, by pushing him. In other words by pushing him. The Prophet Jesus (as) is masha’Allah an upstanding strong man. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be very strong, too. But they are brothers anyway.

Both are descended from the Prophet Abraham (as) and they resemble each other very closely. The people will say they resemble one another, in physical terms too. They will resemble one another in appearance and in style.

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON TEMPO TV (January 13th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
The most distinctive and irrefutable characteristic of Hazrat Mahdi (as) is the prayer he will perform with the Prophet Jesus (as). The Prophet Jesus (as) will push him from his back to lead the daily prayer. I mean he will push him from both his shoulders. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will say “Please you come ahead”. But the Prophet Jesus (as) will decline, and say “ You are the imam and that you are to lead the prayer.” And thus he will lead Hazrat Mahdi (as) forward to lead the prayer. In this way, he will emphasize the leadership of Hazrat Mahdi (as). There is a hadith to that effect. That is how we will clearly realize the presence of Hazrat Mahdi (as).

18- THE QUESTIONING OF THE PROPHET JESUS (AS) IN THE HEREAFTER

ADNAN OKTAR’S INTERVIEW ON EKIN TV (January 26th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Everyone will come with their imams, with their leaders. They will come as whole communities. The Prophet Jesus (as), our Prophet (saas) and everyone will be held to account in the hereafter. Allah discloses a passage from the questioning of the Prophet Jesus in the Qur’an. He will ask him “ Was it you who told them” that is to ask if he was the one who taught them belief in Allah, Jesus and the Holy Ghost, or polytheism. Allah asks “was it you who told them this” He will reply, “Surely You are beyond that, my Lord.” He will say that Allah already knows all his thoughts, and that Allah would know if he had spoken of such a thing. He will say he never said such a thing. Allah will know, but He will question that nevertheless in order to make people repent. Otherwise, of course Almighty Allah knows the answers, but He will make the Prophet Jesus (as) formulate those answers as a blessing for him. And he will answer Allah in this wise with great awe and respect.

19- THE PROPHET JESUS (AS)’ STRUGGLE AGAINST THE ANTICHRIST

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON EKIN TV (January 12th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Our Prophet (saas) says that the antichrist will appear following a burst of anger. Something that will anger him will happen, and them he will reveal himself. In other words, he will oppose Hazrat Mahdi (as). But he is not someone Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be able to deal with as he will employ hypnotism and marvels. For example, he will show someone his dead father.” Look,” he will say “this is your father”. And since people are strongly influenced by their parents, his father will call him to disbelief for instance. “Follow the antichrist, my son,” he will say. And when his son looks at him he will see his father, his dead father. He will say, ”he brought me back to life, and you must follow him.” They will then believe that he is the Prophet Jesus. That is in fact how the Christian belief goes. He will claim deity- Allah forbid- and it is said that he will resurrect the dead. And they will see as if he had resurrected the dead. And he will also claim deity - Allah forbid!- He will say, “look, this is your mother. Your mother also says that I am divine. She says that I am Allah. So you must follow me. And the antichrist will attract a great mass of followers. Under those circumstances, there is nothing Hazrat Mahdi (as) can do. The antichrist is not something that can be defeated intellectually or culturally. He is a creature, like satan in human form. But at just that point the Prophet Jesus will return, as a blessing from Almighty Allah. He will return to earth. When the Messiah returns he will confront the antichrist. Probably in the form of a gathering, he will gather all the people. The antichrist will put on a spectacle, a kind of show. “Call on the person known as Jesus,” he will say “I will also show him that I am Allah.”- Alllah forbid. He will again try to supposedly bring someone’s dead father back to life. But there and then the Prophet Jesus (as) will break his hypnotic spell. The man will see that neither his dead father nor his mother are there. The crowd will be enraged this time. Our Prophet (saas) says when it is realized that the so-called Messiah, the antichrist, was lying, the antichrist will seek to escape in the direction of the Gate of Lud. But the Prophet Jesus (as) will follow running and catch him. He will catch and neutralize the antichrist at the Gate of Lud in this wise.

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON KRAL KARADENIZ TV (February 13th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
The Gate of Lud is in Israel. It is currently in ruins. It is said that the Prophet Jesus (as) will pursue the antichrist and catch up with him there. The Prophet Jesus (as) and Hazrat Mahdi (as) will catch him together and neutralize the antichrist there. Said Nursi says, “even a microbe, a cold would kill him in body.... But what really counts is his intellectual system.” In other words, he says the Prophet Jesus (as) will kill that. Because the antichrist cannot be vanquished intellectually, because he performs hallucinations. Said Nursi says “only a prophet with marvels is now needed”. And that prophet is. He says: “the Prophet Jesus (as) who is accepted by the majority”.

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON EKIN TV (February 16th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
... This is for the atheist Zionists’ and Freemasons’ Armageddon plan, this is the Armageddon plan. The plan of the antichrist. This is the plan of the system of antichrist to wipe out Muslims, but it will fail. The Prophet Jesus (as), the true Messiah, will come. He will combine with Hazrat Mahdi (as) and eliminate this very sinister Armageddon plan. In fact we see the worst dimension of Jewish enmity here. This is such a genocide preparation that it is incomparable, that is incomparably worse than that perpetrated by Hitler among some Christians and that is in fact an immense Jewish enmity. The reason why some Christians are supporting the Jews at the moment is that they regard them as powerful enough to eradicate the Muslims. But then, this time they will eradicate the Christians. That is their plan. The 144 thousand is referred to in the corrupted New Testament. And they have, by misinterpreting the New Testament, by expounding these according to their own minds in such a way, drawn such a conclusion. In other words, they thus arrived at this massacre plan. That is why this is what the antichrist whom they await will do. He will first organize the Jews and unleash them against Muslims. Then after professedly annihilating the Muslims, the antichrist will join forces with the Christians again and kill everyone apart from 144,000 Jews. However this is a very deep-rooted belief and a very widespread one. The people are not aware of this genocide I mean of these preparations for a genocide, people are a bit distant in respect of knowledge from this giant event. This is an important fact that needs to be emphasized. Hazrat Mahdi (as) is the person who will prevent this disaster. When Hazrat Mahdi (as) comes, he will prevent that genocide, prevent this disgrace and also eliminate the antichrist’s claim to divine status. He will cast his lies back in his face. But he will do this together with the Prophet Jesus (as). The Prophet Jesus (as) will thwart the antichrist’s snares. The antichrist will lay on a spectacle with hypnosis. He will make people think that he had resurrected their dead parents. As you know, particularly in the End Times many parents will turn their children away from the true path and some of them lead them to kuffur. Thus the antichrist, who is well aware of this power, will show people their dead mothers and fathers as hallucination and make them approve his divinity. May Allah forbid, he will ask “am I Allah or am I not?” And they will say “You are Allah”- May Allah forbid- and they will tell their children ”Abide this person, he is Allah.” may Allah forbid. Hazrat Messiah will come insha’Allah by Allah’s leave, and the blessed Messiah will thwart that ruse, and he will put an end to it by working together with Hazrat Mahdi (as). Because a miracle-working prophet is required to do that says the Blessed Said Nursi. In other words, it is not something Hazrat Mahdi (as) can achieve on his own. And the time when it will take place is approaching fast. The system of the Mahdi (as) has already begun. And we will soon see the coming of the Prophet Jesus, insha’Allah.

20- THE PROPHET JESUS’ PHYSICAL FEATURES AND CLOTHING

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON EKIN TV (March 9th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
The Prophet Jesus’ hair will be a reddish black. It will be parted in the middle. He will have very attractive eyes and a small nose. He will have light freckles. He will have a child-like cleanliness, but he will have sharp glances of a prophet. The glances of prophets are very sharp, that is to say the spiritual strength of their glances are very high, they are high powered. He will have broad shoulders and a narrow waist. The Prophet Jesus (as) will be athletic. He will be of average height, but innocent and clean. He will have long hair, down to his shoulders. He will have a white complexion, the Prophet Jesus (as) will have a white complexion. The nature of his hair, the texture of his hair will be unusual, I mean it will be as if it was wet, it is seen in some people, I mean that is a kind of hair seen among the descendants of the Prophet Abraham (as). I mean it will look like wet even though no water has touched it. Some people know such hair type. This is how his hair will look like. That is how it is described specifically in the hadith. The Prophet (saas) says the Prophet Jesus’ (as) hair is “as if water is dropping down his hair.”

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON CAY TV (Istanbul, July 23rd, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
When he comes, this lovely prophet will be 33 years old. His hair will be so clean that it will look wet. He will be very very decent, and rational, the Prophet Jesus (as) will be a delightful person. People will realize that he is a prophet as soon as they look at him. He will work several miracles. People will see these and recognize him. And he will complete his life in this world, and his death will take place in this world, insha’Allah.

ADNAN OKTAR’S INTERVIEW IN TEMPO TV (March 24th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
The Prophet Jesus (as) will be very agile and athletic. He will have broad shoulders and a narrow waist and will be extraordinarily attractive. He will be very, very handsome. People will not need to ask whether this is the Prophet Jesus (as), as it will be immediately obvious. Prophets are very distinct from ordinary people. They have an intense majesty, such that people sometimes tremble in the face of the strength of his grandeur. For example, that is the same for our Prophet (saas) as well, he would just look and people would be hypnotized so to speak. Our Prophet (saas) would stroke their mouths with his holy hand and only then they would be able to speak again. It will be the same with the Prophet Jesus. That is to say he will be extremely attractive and very agile... But they are generally very witty, warm and joyful. I mean there is never anything cold or chilly about them; they are very warm, very loving, very compassionate and very good natured. But they are very fierce toward the enemies of Allah. The antichrist for instance, will flee like a cur. But the Prophet Jesus (as) will catch him in a moment. He will be very strong and agile, masha’Allah.

ADNAN OKTAR’S AZERBAYCAN STATE NEWS AGENCY INTERVIEW (August 14th, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Prophet Jesus (as) is of course exceptionally good-looking. He will be red-haired an innocent-looking, like a child. That is why Allah calls him His lamb; and this is how he is described in the Torah. Jesus is as clean and gentle as a lamb. He has broad shoulders and is built like a lion. He medium to tall in stature, and everyone will see Prophet Jesus(as) when the time comes insha’Allah.

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON BAŞKENT TV (February 13th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
The Prophet Jesus (as) will be exceedingly radiant, very, very intelligent and pure, and people who see him will see how a man should be, how a high-quality and loving person should be like. In other words, he will be a very splendid person. People will be speechless when they see the Prophet Jesus (as).

ADNAN OKTAR’S DENGE TV INTERVIEW (December 9th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR:
He left the sphere of time and space 2000 years ago, and now 2000 years later will re-enter time and space. He will be wearing the same clothes and the same shoes, the same buckled shoes with a thong between the toes. He will be wearing the same plain robe and a plain skull cap. He will return wearing those same clothes and they will find him somewhere, insha’Allah.

22- THE COMING OF THE PROPHET JESUS(AS) IS A PORTENT OF DOOMSDAY

ADNAN OKTAR’S INTERVEIW ON EKIN TV (January 26th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR: The first omen of Doomsday is the appearance of Hazrat Mahdi (as). If Hazrat Mahdi (as) has appeared, that means that Doomsday is very close, just a few centuries at most. The coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) is the final point. The second great portent is the return of the Prophet Jesus (as). This is clearly set out in the Qur’an. It describes the Prophet Jesus (as) as an omen of Doomsday. No other prophet is called that; only the coming of the Prophet Jesus (as) referred to as a portent of Doomsday.

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON TEMPO TV (March 10th, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR: The coming of the Prophet Jesus (as) is very clearly set out in the Qur’an. Look, in only one place and regarding only one prophet does Almighty Allah says, I take shelter in Allah from the satan, “His coming is a sign of Doomsday.” He says this referring to him alone, and this is from the Qur’an. And Almighty Allah says “I will make those who believe in you superior to the unbelievers until Doomsday.” This verse is a sign of global dominion. And in addition, Almighty Allah says “No member of the people of the Book will remain who does not believe in you.” They will all believe. And this is also world rule. It is clear. These are the clear words of the Qur’an.

23- THE PROPHET JESUS(AS)’ HELP TO HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)

ADNAN OKTAR’S AZERBAIJAN TV INTERVIEW (June 11th, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
He will help the Mahdi (as). There is even a verse indicating that. In the Qur’an Allah says that He made a covenant with the Prophets. He says He made a covenant with you, the Prophet Muhammad (saas), the Prophet Jesus (as), the Prophet Noah (as), the Prophet Abraham (as). Allah says this is a great promise. Allah asks have you taken and agreed on this covenant.

REPORTER: Concerning the Mahdi...

ADNAN OKTAR:
Yes, this refers to the Mahdi. Because since our Prophet (saas) also had promised, there must be someone else. There is only one prophet remaining who can do this now and that is Jesus (as). Jesus must return. When he comes he must also assist an envoy. That envoy is the Messenger referred to as the Messenger Mahdi (as). Said Nursi also refers to the Messenger Mahdi in his books, and that person is an envoy.

24- ISLAM WILL RULE THE WORLD WHEN THE PROPHET JESUS(AS) AND HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) UNITE

ADNAN OKTAR’S ERZINCAN CAN TV INTERVIEW (Istanbul, July 14th, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
It will take place in stages. First, the Mahdi will unite the Islamic world. And when Jesus (as) returns the Christians and Jews will become Muslims. Thus there will be only one religion left on earth. In one verse referring to this, Allah says, I take shelter in Allah from the satan; “before you die, not a single person will be left who does not believe in you.” Everyone will have faith, even including the Eskimos in the North Pole. The Qur’an states this quite clearly. It refers to the Prophet Jesus as “a sign of Reckoning.” It refers to the Prophet Jesus as “He....” and says that when he comes “He is a sign of Reckoning...” His coming is a portent of Doomsday at the same time. Allah says referring to the Prophet Jesus (as) “ I will make those who believe in the you superior over non-believers right up until Doomsday.” We can see quite clearly in the hadith and from verses that he will return.

ADNAN OKTAR:
We can clearly see that Islam will rule the world from verse 55 of Surat an-Nur. This is an explicit verse and there are very clear explanations. We can see from both the hadith and from the verses that Islam will rule the world. The story of Solomon (as) and Dhu’l Qarnayn (as) also indicate the global rule of Islam. That part about Dhu’l Qarnayn describes the global dominion of Islam. These two were the greatest powers in the world at the time. And so it will be again. The Qur’an indicates this. If a subject appears in the Qur’an, that means it will certainly come about, insha’Allah. Allah puts them in so that people can adopt them as role models insha’Allah. This is the law of Allah, the law Allah in the Qur’an insha’Allah.

25- HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) AND THE PROPHET JESUS (AS) WILL BE PHYSICALLY VERY SIMILAR

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON CAY TV (January 31st, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR: Our Prophet (saas) was descended from the Prophet Abraham (as). Hazrat Mahdi (as) is also a descended from the Prophet Abraham (as). Hazrat Mahdi (as) is a sayyid. The Prophet Jesus (as) is also a descended from the Prophet Abraham (as). That is to say they have the same ancestry, Hazrat Mahdi (as) and the Prophet Jesus (as). Their faces will thus be very similar. People will see that when they come. They will bear a very close physical similarity to one another, the Mahdi (as) and the Prophet Jesus (as). But the Prophet Jesus will have red hair, and his small nose will have mild freckles, lightly freckled and he will be highly attractive, masha’Allah.

ADNAN OKTAR’S LIVE INTERVIEW ON EKIN TV (FEBRUARY 2nd, 2009)

ADNAN OKTAR: Hazrat Mahdi (as) will strongly resemble the Prophet Jesus (as). People will see this when the Prophet Jesus (as) appears. They will be like brothers, twins. They will resemble one another very much.
